Description
✨Rachel Ruysch – a trio of bees✨
Join master-painter Elizabeth Marruffo as she guides you through the traditional painting techniques she learnt while studying in Florence. From preparing compositions and transferring images, to working with oil paints this eight week course is going to provide students with a deep understanding of the way a traditional artist worked.
This term in Advanced Art we will continue to look closely at the work of Rachel Ruysch. Students will practice working with oils on multiple paintings at once as we plan to complete a series of 3 works studying some of the delightful bees in Ruysch’s art. We will focus on butterflies and bugs that she like to include as we learn about the symbolism of some of the flowers and the way her works contemplate the distinct stages of life and the passing of time.
Students should expect to develop their mastery of oil paints, techniques and processes. Please note all materials are solvent free and safe however old clothes should be worn to these classes.
Our small class size of only 12, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.
