Note: The Sunday course can be started from the second session at a reduced cost.

Important Note: all weekend courses will not be running on Saturday the 29th of July or Sunday the 30th of July. This is because the Perth Comic Arts Festival will be running that weekend. We encourage all students to attend the Festival as it’s a fantastic opportunity to see the local comics community in action.

Join master-painter Elizabeth Marruffo as she guides you through the traditional painting techniques she learnt while studying in Florence. From preparing compositions and transferring images, to working with oil paints this eight week course is going to provide students with a deep understanding of the way a traditional artist worked.

This term we will focus on the life and work of Dutch painter Rachel Ruysch, whose paintings were prized for their stunningly beautiful flowers that exploded with life. Students will be looking at Ruysh’s work ‘up close’ and completing two large paintings using a refreshing take on her traditional techniques.

Students should expect to develop their mastery of oil paints, techniques and processes. Please note all materials are solvent free and safe however old clothes should be worn to these classes.

Our small class size of only 12, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.

Saturday midday session runs at 11.30am – 1.00pm from the 22nd of July until the 16th of September

Sunday morning session runs at 9.30am – 11.00am from the 23rd of July until the 17th of September

This course is recommended for ages 11 +
