Description

✨Anna Atkins✨

Join Elizabeth Marruffo as we explore the incredible life and times of English botanist Anna Atkins, who was one of the first women to take photographs. Atkins documented many plant and insects with her iconic, blue-tinted cyanotypes.

Across the eight week term we will be studying native plants to experiment with the same photographic exposures. We will then use these technique on fabric tote bags and fabric hoops. The students can choose to embellish their nightscape bags with fabric moths and owls and also learn various stitches to embroider botanical patterns.

Applied Art is a fantastic opportunity for students to put their creative skills to use, designing and constructing usable work of art.

Our small class size of only 12, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.
