Description

✨Marie Laurencin – portraits and dreamy dogs✨

Join master-painter Elizabeth Marruffo as she guides you through advanced drawing techniques inspired by the work of Marie Laurencin. She was known for ethereal feminine portraits which often included leaping and embraced black dogs. A wide variety of mark making techniques will be practiced using pastels, pencils, and charcoal in a series of life drawings of Lali the Mexican hairless dog. Yes, there will be a REAL DOG present in week 2 and possibly week 3 of this course. Students will also study faces looking closely at the eye and lip features to complete pastel drawings in the simple style of Laurencin. We will then look at the work of contemporary artists influenced by Laurencin to further inspire the creation of our own compositions and completed artworks.

Students should expect to develop their mastery of pastel and pencil techniques and processes. Please note all materials are solvent free and safe however old clothes should be worn to these classes.

Our small class size of only 12, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.

Saturday midday session runs at 11.30am – 1.00pm from the 29th of April until the 17th of June

This course is recommended for ages 11 +
