Join master-painter Elizabeth Marruffo as she guides you through some of the painting techniques used by O’Keeffe. From preparing compositions and transferring images, to working with non-toxic oil paints this eight week course is going to provide students with a deep understanding of the way this American modernist artist worked.

This term we will focus on the life and work of American painter Georgia O’keeffe, whose iconic paintings of flowers, open deserts and bleached bones were prized for their stunning beauty and elegance. Students will be looking at O’keeffe’s work and using non-toxic oil paints to complete colour studies of landscapes, florals and skulls. Students will be learning about colour mixing and gain an appreciation of O’Keeffes unique vision for arranging her striking compositions.

Our small class size of only 12, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.

Sunday morning session runs at 9.00am – 11.00am from the 5th of May until the 23rd of June

This course is recommended for ages 11 +

Note to Returning Students: We will be continuing our exploration of the works of Georgia O’keeffe this term, but will be doing so with new activities and techniques for the students.

Note for New Students: No previous experience with painting is required in order to join this class, however it is suited to older students as the process we teach does require students to be patient and have the ability to maintain interest in a long-term project.
