My interview on Blythelife.com went up today! I’ve never done an interview like this before so I was so excited to answer all of Michelle’s questions. I hope I don’t sound like a total dork!
The other reason I was so stoked to do this interview is because my dear friend, Maggie from Parasol Doll donated a dress made out of my fabric for a giveaway!
Maggie is who got me started designing fabric in the first place so I was so honored that she would donate her time and talents. Parasol Doll is one of my very favorite dolly clothing lines. Each dress is completely unique, immaculately constructed, and breathtakingly gorgeous. I’m so lucky to have Maggie as a friend! Her work is an endless inspiration to me and I hope we can have many more collaborations in the future!
You can find Maggie’s gorgeous creations in her artfire shop, or follow her lovely photography on flickr.

If you want to enter to win the one-of-a-kind Parasol Doll creation seen above, read my interview here and follow the instructions to enter at the bottom.
In conjunction with the interview, I fully stocked my shop last night with all the Milktooth fat-quarters anyone could want! This evening I will also be adding Bunny Bender fat-quarters, available for the first time ever!

I don’t know how I managed, but I won another Spoonflower contest! What an awesome early birthday present! The theme this time was “Nautical”. I entered my design, Electronic Castaways and it squeaked in a win by ONE vote. The runner-up design was a stupendous Loch Ness Monster design by Cean Irminger and can be seen here.
New designs are in the works. I’m making companion prints for several of my existing designs including Do or Donut, Happy Pills, and I’m so Faun’d of You. This will allow for greater mixing and matching options when making (dolly) clothing or quilts!

It’s been a while since I blogged. (Bad, I know!!) but a lot has been going on! First, it’s been raining NON-STOP here in Portland which is really nothing new but I think everyone is getting a little sick of “June-uary.” On the bright side, I’ve been getting a lot of work done despite several set-backs including a couple of expensive computer meltdowns.
So, the shop is fully updated today and everything is in stock! Including Grrr…Arrgh my winning contest entry puppet pattern. I’m super pleased with the way it came out. The colors are incredibly vibrant and cheery just as I was hoping. Also in the works for the shop are prints of some of my paintings. I’m completing a series of sleepy-headed animal girls. So far I’ve got a bee, fawn, and bat. I can’t wait to get them printed on fabric and see how they look.
It’s so wonderful to have motivating friends. They are my biggest inspiration. Today, my buddy Michelle came over and we had an art night. It is so great to have someone to ask for opinions and critique work as I paint. Michelle makes breathtaking ceramics and jewelry. She is a joy to be around and I always get a ton of work done when she comes over! I really should have art dates more often.

My good friend, Julie at House of Pinku is the first on the block to make dolly dresses with Milktooth fabrics and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I am so honored to have my fabrics be a part of House of Pinku!
Julie has been sewing amazing dolly clothes since 2007. She is an enormous inspiration to me, and a super sweet person to boot! You can find her exquisite creations in her Artfire shop, and in her Etsy shop.
If you’d like to know more about her, check out this bitchin’ interview from blythe-doll-fashions.com.
A tiny footnote…
In unrelated news, if you ordered fat quarters from the Milktooth Etsy shop, you shall have them in your grubby little paws soon! May orders will ship tomorrow

I entered another Spoonflower contest today. This one is for puppets that will fit on one quarter yard of fabric. Apparently, there weren’t a ton of entries for this one so I might have a decent shot at winning! I ended up being a bit late to enter but contacted Spoonflower and was able to get in. I don’t know why I am such a hardcore procrastinator, but I always have been and probably always will be. I work better under pressure! Besides, if I didn’t procrastinate, I just wouldn’t be me.
I’ve had monster movies on the brain lately so I decided it might be fun to have a monster hand puppet with a bunch of finger puppet victims. For whatever reason, there is something really humorous about a giant monster terrorizing a city. I don’t even think it has anything to do with the poor production values of those films. I guess I’ve just always imagined that the monster in these situations truly just wanted something really innocuous (like to make change for a dollar) and got all wrapped up in some crazy misunderstanding because of his size and lack of language skills. Maybe that’s why my monster, Brisco, has a “I <3 mom" tattoo on his derriere. Just a little sign to show people that inside, he's really just a big softie.Which reminds me, I named the monster after this really rad dog that was at the park today! He was big, goofy and sweet just like my monster.
Anyway, if you’d like to vote for my design, voting begins tomorrow, May 12th. You can cast your vote here.

Well, I finally found a Spoonflower contest that spoke to me….Cocktails! I squeaked through my entry at hour 13 but I made it in! This design was created specifically for that contest and is my first foray into the contest realm.
The inspiration for this design admittedly came from listening to Lady Gaga’s “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich“, a recent guilty pleasure of mine. Somehow my train of thought ended up at drunk rabbits, (don’t ask me to explain how.)
These bunnies have had an all-night booze fest and are passed out cold in puddles of beer, occasionally adorned in lamp-shades. Oh, if only I could have been a fly on the wall at that party! I included beer in my design which is not really a cocktail, per se but it is a perfectly valid means of getting shitwrecked (pardon my french) so I threw it in there anyway!
I have a feeling that when the folks at Spoonflower wrote in their blog that they got “a few less-than-serious entries” they were probably talking about me but I want to assure the SF team that my entry is 110% serious. These bunnies don’t eff around!
The voting for this contest has already begun and runs through May 12th, so if you feel my entry is deserving of a liquored-up win, cast your vote! No Spoonflower account is necessary, but make sure that you click through all five pages of entrants to find the submit button.
I promise if I win, the first round is on me.
