The Beloved Frida Kahlo and her Birds
In this course students will be inspired by the birds and animals painted by the hugely popular Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. We will learn about her life and important contributions to the art world as we use various materials to make our own interpretations of birds found in her paintings.
Frida is famous for her self portraits with animals so we will include a portrait of our own pet or favourite animal. Students will decorate elaborate tin frames for their paintings and finish the term making a lightweight needlefelted bird. We will even be able to have a bird flight race in the final class of term!
Our small class size of only 12, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.
Saturday morning session runs at 9.30am – 11.00am from the 23rd of July until the 17th of September
NOTE: There will be a break on the weekend of the 6th of August for the Perth Comic Arts Festival. Elizabeth and Campbell are co-founders of this free, annual Festival and we strongly encourage all students to attend over the weekend.
Thursday afternoon session runs at 4.00pm – 5.30pm from the 4th of August the 22nd of September
This course is recommended for ages 7+
Instalment Payments: We welcome flexible instalment payments over the term. At the check out, simply let us know how you’d like to break up the payments and choose the Direct Deposit option. It couldn’t be easier!
