Description

Join us at Milktooth as we spend the term exploring the famous ‘Lady and the Unicorn’ tapestries. The set of 6 tapestries were created in the style of ‘mille-fleurs’ (thousand flowers) and are often considered one of the greatest works of art of the Middle Ages in Europe. Five of the tapestries are commonly interpreted as depicting the five senses – taste, hearing, sight, smell, and touch. The sixth has been interpreted as representing love or understanding.

We will be designing, stitching and appliqueing pennants based on flower designs from the tapestry and reflecting the five different senses in our design. We will stitch in pockets of edible flowers, add some bells, use colour in clever ways, add lavender and camomile sachets and work with tactile materials such as felt, velvet and corduroy. We will also lovingly make poseable felted animals of the students choice that appear in the tapestry including the famous white unicorn, dogs, bunnies and even a sweet monkey if they wish.

Our small class size of only 10, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.

Wednesday and Thursday from 10.00am – 4.00pm on the 13th and 14th of July
