Description

Rachel Ruysch – Tulip Mania

This holiday in Crafternoon we will be looking at the life and art of the most famous floral still life painter, Rachel Ruysch who used floral still lifes to symbolise powerful messages of the distinct stages of life.

Over two days, we will be making small yarn tufted wall hangings based on our own interpretations of the life stages of the tulip flower, a flower that Ruysch was very famous for painting. Hanging from the tapestries base we will be able to suspend small textile crafted details inspired by Rusch’s paintings such as bees, butterflies, caterpillars, spiders and even water droplets.

Our small class size of only 12, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.

All materials and an afternoon tea fruit platter will be provided for each day. Please bring a nut free snack and lunch as well as a water bottle.

Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.00am – 3.00pm on the 2nd and 3rd of January

This course is recommended for ages 7+
