10.00am – 4.00pm 8th + 9th of October
Join us in a two day, comics-making masterclass with award winning author Campbell Whyte as he leads you through an action-packed creative adventure. We will be studying the stunning series Witch Hat Atelier by renowned artist Kamome Shirahama as inspiration. From page layout and pen types to toning and lettering. We’ll explore all the different techniques that Shirahama uses to bring their incredible series to life.
Across twelve different activities, we will be exploring both fundamental comics making skills as well as advanced drawing techniques. Comics is an incredible medium that combines aspects of visual arts, graphic design, calligraphy and literature into something wholly unique.
Essential skills such as narrative pacing, choosing the right moment for each panel and dialogue will be taught in depth alongside anatomy, perspective, shading and much more.
This masterclass is a perfect deep-dive for both those that are just beginning their journey into the comics-making, as well as those who have been experimenting for years. Our small class size of only 10, means that each student will get the feedback and attention they need in order to achieve their best outcome.
All materials and an afternoon tea fruit platter will be provided for each day. Please bring a nut free snack and lunch as well as a water bottle.
