In term 1 of this class we will read and be inspired by the book ‘Fossil Girl’ by Catherine Brighton.

The book tells the true story of 10-year- old Mary Anning who, over 200 years ago, discovered the first complete fossil of an Ichthyosaur.

From watercolour cyanobacteria studies to sculpting our own mini ichthyosaur fossil, each week we will use a different material to examine an aspect of prehistoric life. We will even make a small doll of Mary Anning herself to go along with the studies we collect over the 8 week course.
